Celebration of 4th Annual Asian Pacific American Festival of the Arts, OH Art Foundation is pleased to announce What Remains, a solo exhibition featuring the work of Diane Lee. On view from May 15th to July 12th, 2026, we invite all to join us for the exhibition opening on Friday, May 15th, from 7-10pm on the 3rd floor of the Zhou B Art Center.

In the wake of every loss is absence: unanswered questions, empty spaces, unpossessed belongings, age-worn memories that inevitably begin to fray at the ends. Undaunted, What Remains exists as both an homage to those who have passed and as an ode to the temporal nature of memory itself. How fitting, then, for Lee to choose thread—so defined by its ability to mend and tether—as her material of choice. Stitch by stitch, delicate embroidery thread metamorphoses into lush fields and sweeping waves, reinforcing the fading planes of old photographs and pushing them into the dimensionality of the current-day. Blooms of color animate each piece with vibrant life. Meticulous needlework outlines faint silhouettes. To Lee, sewing is an act of remembrance that inseparably weaves together past and present. And though the individuals depicted may be yet unknown to the viewer, the sentimentality behind What Remains is undeniably universal. Imbued with profound warmth, Lee’s careful mark-making reminds us of our interconnected nature with one another—and of affection’s endless ability to transform loss into new growth.

What Remains is Diane Lee’s second solo exhibition at OH Art Foundation. She has been an OH Art Foundation Incubation Initiative artist since 2023.

Diane Lee is a fiber artist with over 30 years of experience. She immigrated to America in 1985. Lee studied Fiber Art at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago from 1985 to 1988. The new influences she was exposed to during her studies in the US shifted the direction of her artistic practice and helped establish her style. Later, Lee enrolled for a MFA at Columbia College in Chicago for Interdisciplinary Art where she learned new methods, like paper-making, and expanded her artistic expression.

All the artworks are for sale. Work list inquiries - info@ohartfoundation.org
