The Artist's Path to Opportunity

September 19th, 2026, 10:30am - 12:30pm

by  Sergio Gomez and Dr. Yanina Gomez

3314 S Morgan st Chicago - Storefront Gallery

You made the work. Now what?

Maybe you're waiting for a gallery to say yes. Waiting for a jury to notice you.
Waiting to feel ready enough, confident enough, worthy enough to put your art
in front of the world.
Meanwhile the art world keeps changing. AI. Social media noise. Market
saturation. Rejection. Comparison. It's easy to feel invisible, even when your
work is good.
You didn't get into this to wait around.

Here's the truth

Talent isn't the problem. Most artists don't need more talent. They need a plan,
and they need to believe they're allowed to build it themselves.
If you're waiting for permission, you could be waiting a long time. No one is
going to tell you this, so we will: you don't need it.

We've been where you are

Sergio Gomez built his own path in the art world. From working artist to gallery director, he's curated over 150 exhibitions without waiting for someone else's stamp of approval. Today he directs 33 Contemporary Gallery and runs Art NXT Level, helping artists close the gap between their studio and the world.

Dr. Yanina Gomez is an author and mindset + emotional wellness specialist who has helped artists move past fear, comparison, and self-doubt to make work, and share it, with real confidence.

Together, they're bringing that experience to Chicago for one morning, hosted by OH Art Foundation.

What you'll walk away with

This isn't a lecture. It's a working session. You'll leave with a real plan, not just inspiration.

1. Believe You Belong Dr. Yanina Gomez helps you build the inner foundation to
move your art from the studio into the world with more confidence.
Five practical steps to shift your focus away from fear, comparison, and outside
validation, and toward choices that strengthen your passion and sense of purpose.

2. Build It Yourself Sergio Gomez breaks down five practical ways to create
your own opportunities: studio events, self-curated shows, online events,
partnerships, and opportunities you build from scratch. Real steps, drawn from
150+ exhibitions, that you can start using this month.

3. Your Opportunity Plan Before you leave, you'll fill out a one-page plan:
the opportunity you're building, the date you're aiming for, and your first three action steps.

What happens if you wait
Every month you wait is a month your work stays in the studio instead of in front of the people who need to see it. The gallery that hasn't said yes yet doesn't have to be the thing standing between you and your next show.

What happens when you don't

Picture your next opening. Your next collector. Your next collaboration. One you built yourself, because you stopped waiting and started moving.
