OH Art Foundation presents Bridge Percussion ensemble performance —it is a reflection of the intricate relationship between mind, body, and spirit. Bridge Percussion presents a selection of pieces that explore this connection through diverse rhythms, melodies, timbres, and textures, echoing the themes of A Whisper 2 A Scream. Just as the exhibition examines the interplay of physical and mental health, this performance blurs the line between sound and emotion. The works performed by Bridge Percussion also challenge conventional boundaries of music, much like the exhibition challenges perceptions of illness and identity. Traditional percussion instruments—marimba, vibraphone, and glockenspiel—merge with unconventional "found" objects, such as conduit pipes, automotive brakes, and cigar boxes, creating a soundscape that reflects both the struggle and beauty of unexpected pairings.
Bridge Percussion is a collective of classically trained percussionists based in Chicago who play classical, contemporary, modern, and experimental percussion music. Recent performances include the Chicago Premiere of Seven Pillars by Andy Akiho to a weekend of sold-out crowds at Fulton Street Collective and a performance at the Music at the Fort Concert Series in Highwood. Bridge Percussion is committed to presenting engaging and accessible percussion music and has upcoming concerts at the Chicago Tabernacle and Symphony Center.
