Sergio Gomez is a Chicago-based artist, curator, and founder of Art NXT Level. Reflecting upon the cyclical nature of the human experience, Coalescence features his most recent work. Gomez’s richly layered paintings and drawings explore the nuances of the anonymous figure, creating provocative visuals and enigmatic narratives. His work powerfully skirts the line between ambiguity and physicality, forming impressions that will perhaps encourage viewers to reflect upon the significance of their own presence. Devoid of political and social imagery, his figures lead viewers to a more indefinite realm: one that is wrought with spirituality but nonetheless exists as something recognizably and universally human.
